The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved two schemes — the Integrated District Project Fund and the District Project Fund, with a combined allocation of Rs 53 crore to expedite small-scale infrastructure and welfare projects across the city's 11 districts.
“The government wants smaller works to be completed at the district level itself,” CM Gupta stated, highlighting the aim to decentralise implementation and bypass procedural delays. Each district will receive Rs three crore, with Rs 20 crore allotted under the Integrated District Project Fund and Rs 33 crore under the District Project Fund. The schemes will finance projects including road and school repairs, maintenance of community centres, public toilets, dispensaries, drainage systems, and initiatives related to health, education, and flood control.
Execution will be managed by agencies such as the Public Works Department, Irrigation and Flood Control, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, depending on the project type. To streamline implementation, a Project Approval Committee (PAC) will be established in each district, chaired by the District Magistrate and including key officials.
