The Andhra Pradesh government has allotted land to LuLu Group for the development of large-scale shopping malls in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. The state has sanctioned 13.74 acres of APIIC land at Harbour Park on Beach Road, Visakhapatnam, on a 99-year lease.

The LuLu Group plans to develop a mega shopping mall spread over 13.5 lakh sq. ft. at this location. In addition, in-principle approval has been given for allotting 4.15 acres of land in Vijayawada on a 65-year lease, extendable by 33 years, for a shopping mall measuring 2.32 lakh sq. ft. Both locations will have a rent-free period of three years or until the mall’s opening—whichever comes earlier.

As per GO Ms No. 137 issued by Secretary to Industries and Commerce Department, N Yuvaraj, VMRDA has been instructed to transfer possession of the Visakhapatnam land back to APIIC, which will evaluate and finalise the LuLu proposal after necessary legal scrutiny. The APIIC will follow the AP Tourism Land Allotment Policy 2024–2029 for pricing and implementation. The transport and revenue departments are tasked with relocating existing structures and ensuring timely transfer of land for project execution.
