PC maker HP India is set to sign an agreement with electronics contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies' subsidiary Padget Electronics to make the company's notebooks, desktops and PCs. Padget is setting up a new facility in Oragadam under the IT Hardware Production Linked Incentive (PLI) 2.0 Scheme for manufacturing laptops, desktops and all-in-one devices.
The production will take place at a new facility being established in Chennai. The partnership will combine HP's cutting-edge technology with Dixon's manufacturing expertise. The announcement reaffirms the company's commitment to 'Make in India' initiative, and capability to offer customers in India an enhanced portfolio of domestically manufactured products.
Spanning across 3,00,000 sq. ft., the plant is projected to create 1,500 direct employment. At peak capacity, it would have the capability to produce two million units annually.
