The Himachal Pradesh Government has urged the Union Government to sanction
additional seven national highways to the state to strengthen the road network.
The State Government has already sent a proposal for declaring the 106.400 km
Tara devi-Jubbarhatti-Ramshehar-Nalagarh-Kasauli road; road between
Hamirpur-Sujanpur-Palampur road (59.775 km); 133 km long
Bharmour-Chamba-Dalhousie-Pathankot road; Slapper-Pandoh-Chailchowk-Karsog-Tattapani-Dhalli
road (296.950 km); 83.90 km road between Chandigarh-PGI(Baddi)-Punjab-Pokhran-Nalagarh–Ramshehar-Arki-Shalaghat
road and 111.865 km Brahmukhar-Bilaspur-Ghumarwin-Sarkag as national highways.
The Public Works Department of the state has also requested the Union
Government to sanction funds for construction of bypass roads at Sundernagar,
Manali, Jogindernagar and Theog to ease the traffic congestion.
