Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has approved the construction of two major Greenfield Expressways — the Kotputli–Kishangarh (181 km) and Beawar–Bharatpur (342 km) alignments.
These projects are part of a larger plan announced in the 2023–24 state budget by Deputy CM and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, under which nine expressways spanning 2,756 km are planned. The government aims to complete five by 2030 as part of its 'Vision 2047'. According to officials, the Public Works Department (PWD) will soon start land acquisition for both projects, with tenders for construction likely by the end of this fiscal year or early next.
A senior PWD official confirmed, "We have received the necessary approval from the CM to build two of the nine proposed Greenfield Expressways in the state. We are now going to start the land acquisition process."
Acquisition will be carried out under Sections 4, 11 and 19 of the Rajasthan Land Acquisition Act, 2014, a process expected to take six to eight months before tenders are floated.
