Hitachi Energy India, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), and Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission (RPPTL) have executed a novation agreement regarding the mega Rajasthan HVDC project.
The contract, initially placed by RPPTL on the Hitachi-BHEL consortium in April 2025, involves the design and delivery of HVDC terminals to transmit renewable energy from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh. Under the agreement, the rights and obligations of RPPTL will now be transferred to Adani Group's AESL Projects (APL), previously known as Adani Energy Solutions Step-Ten. The 6,000 MW, 950 km HVDC link will power around 60 million households.
All other terms and conditions of the project remain unchanged, with APL assuming RPPTL’s duties, liabilities, and obligations.
