Hitachi Energy India has announced an investment of Rs 300 crore to expand its Mysuru manufacturing facility, doubling its capacity to produce EHV class high-quality pressboard and laminated board—key insulation materials for power and distribution transformers.
This initiative, part of Hitachi Energy India’s Rs 2,000 crore investment plan announced in October 2024, will be completed by mid-2027. The upgraded plant will feature the world’s first fossil-free production line, utilising 100 percent fossil-free process heat and electricity, making it an ultra-low carbon facility.
N Venu, Managing Director & CEO, Hitachi Energy India, said, “With this expansion, we’re proud to support India’s growing grid and renewable energy integration – while strengthening the local energy manufacturing ecosystem for a more sustainable future.” Helmut Bockshammer, Global Product Group Manager, added, “By localizing pressboard production, we’re securing supply chains, boosting reliability, and supporting the shift to renewables.”
The facility will cater to both Indian and global markets, reinforcing sustainability and supply security.
