The Tamil Nadu Budget for 2025-26, presented by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu on 14 March 2025, highlights key investments in infrastructure, women’s welfare, and education in the state.
The ‘Thozhi’ Working Women’s Hostel Project will see the addition of 10 new hostels with modern amenities, including one in Coimbatore, at a cost of Rs 77 crore. This builds on the 13 operational hostels in Chennai and nearby areas.
Infrastructure expansion remains a priority, with the government announcing a new airport in Rameswaram to support increasing tourism. Chennai’s Metro Rail network will also undergo significant expansion, requiring an investment of Rs 27,858 crore. The Budget serves as both a developmental roadmap and a strategic move.
