JSW Group and the Government of Assam have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a world-class heritage museum in Guwahati.
The museum will be located at the Sericulture Farm in Khanapara, covering 45,000 sq. ft. of land provided by the Assam Government. To be fully funded and constructed by the JSW Group, the museum aims to preserve and promote art, culture, and heritage. It will feature national and international artefacts, cultural showcases, and travelling exhibitions, fostering global cultural exchange.
The inaugural exhibition will highlight the Vrindavani Vastra, a 17th-century devotional textile woven under Srimanta Sankardev’s guidance, currently held at the British Museum. Assam's Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, praised the partnership as a significant step forward in the state's cultural development.
