JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 7.26 million tonne (MT) for the first quarter of FY26, marking a 14 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase. However, production was down five percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), primarily due to planned maintenance shutdowns of blast furnaces.
These furnaces have since been restarted and are now operating at optimum capacity levels, with capacity utilisation at Indian operations standing at 87 percent for Q1 FY26. The next growth phase targets an increase to 43.4 MTPA over the next three years.
The Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka remains India’s largest single-location steel-producing facility at 17.5 MTPA. JSW’s strategic collaboration with JFE Steel of Japan supports innovation in high-value special steel products used across multiple sectors.
Over the past three decades, JSW Steel has evolved from a single manufacturing unit to India’s leading integrated steel company, with a consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 MTPA.
