JTL Industries has successfully installed and implemented direct forming technology (DFT) at its facility in Mangaon, Maharashtra, marking a significant advancement in steel tube manufacturing. This innovation enhances efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness while reducing material wastage.
DFT enables the direct production of hollow sections in various sizes without roll changes, eliminating setup adjustments and increasing production speed. Unlike traditional methods requiring different roll sets for each dimension, DFT operates with computerised automation, ensuring faster production, improved precision, cost reduction, and greater flexibility.
The facility, a key production hub, is now equipped to manufacture high-strength, precision-engineered steel tubes and profiles, supporting both domestic and international demand. The DFT implementation expands JTL’s product range from 1,200 to 2,000 SKUs, allowing the production of square tubes up to 350x350 mm and rectangular tubes up to 400x300 mm, with material thicknesses up to 14 mm.
Additionally, the new technology is expected to decrease downtime by 33% and reduce downtime costs by 25%.
