Jupiter Wagons (JWL), a mobility solutions provider across rail, road, and marine transport, has secured a Rs 242.41-crore contract from GATX India, the country’s largest private railcar lessor, to manufacture and supply 583 specialised wagons.
The order comprises BLSS (container carriers), ACT2 (bilevel SUV carriers), BOXNHL (high-capacity open wagons), and BVCM units for bulk commodities, vehicles, and containerised freight. The BLSS is built for ISO containers, offering high axle load capacity and efficient port-to-hinterland connectivity. The ACT2 can carry up to 10 SUVs per wagon, ensuring minimal handling, improved protection, and faster turnaround.
The BOXNHL, with over 70-tonne payload capacity and enhanced braking, is suited for coal, iron ore, and other bulk materials, supporting heavy-haul freight corridors. These wagons are designed for high-capacity, long-distance operations, aligning with India’s evolving freight logistics needs.
The deal showcases the company's expertise in delivering large-scale, specialised rolling stock projects, enhancing GATX’s cargo handling capabilities and operational efficiency.
