Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on 10 August, 2025 laid the foundation stone for BEML’s Greenfield Rail Manufacturing facility ‘BRAHMA’ in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, calling it “a pillar in India’s journey towards selfreliance.”
Spread over 148 acres, the Rs 1,800-crore project will produce advanced rolling stock, including Vande Bharat trainsets, metro cars, EMUs, and high-speed rail coaches, with initial output of 125–200 coaches annually, scaling to 1,100 in five years. Expected to generate over 5,000 jobs, it will boost local supply chains and MSMEs in Singrauli, Satna, Rewa, and Katni.
Union MInister Singh highlighted BRAHMA’s role in strengthening India’s industrial and defence base. Referring to Operation Sindoor,, he stressed that indigenous equipment played a “pivotal role” in its success. BRAHMA will feature zero liquid discharge, renewable energy integration, rainwater harvesting, and green landscaping, adhering to high environmental and safety norms.
