Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has urged PM Modi for Rs 1.5 lakh crore Central funding to transform Bengaluru into a “global metropolis.”
A key project is five semi-high-speed RRTS corridors modelled on the Delhi– Meerut line, India’s first operational RRTS (partial since Oct 2023, 55 km of 82 km functional). Proposed links include: Bengaluru–Mysuru, Harohalli–Kanakapura, Nelamangala–Tumakuru, Airport–Chikkaballapur, Hoskote–Kolar.
Other plans include 128 km Metro Phase 3/3A, underground tunnels (Hosur–Bellary Road, KR Puram–Mysuru Road), elevated corridors, 40 km double-decker roads, and a 73 km eight-lane Peripheral Ring Road (Rs 27,000 crore).
Waste management upgrades include four large plants with composting, bio-CNG, and wasteto-energy facilities, seeking Rs 1,000 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. Additional proposals: 300 km of buffer zone roads along stormwater drains, and Cauvery Water Supply Phase-6 to add 500 MLD by 2028.
