The Kerala government has granted administrative approval for establishing a KINFRA food processing park at Kunnukara in Ernakulam district under the state’s Mini Food Park scheme.
Spanning 15.3073 hectares (around 37.82 acres) in Kunnukara village near Kalamassery, the project will receive financial backing from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). Industries Minister P Rajeeve said the park would be a major initiative in the agri-allied sector, aimed at supporting agricultural revival in the Kalamassery Assembly constituency.
Under the Kalamassery Agri Mission, farming has expanded to new areas, with crops such as sugarcane and arrowroot cultivated. Five value-added agri products have already been launched in the market. The third edition of the Kalamassery Agri Fest will be held in August to promote the initiative.
Irrigation facilities in the region have been upgraded to support increased cultivation. Rajeeve noted the park will host industrial units producing spices, coconut, fruits, dairy, cakes, and bakery products. Land acquisition procedures will be expedited in coordination with the district administration to ensure timely project execution.
