The Karnataka Government has in-principle approved the implementation of the
Konanur-Kushalnagar-Virajpet-Makutta inter-state highway project, estimated to
cost Rs 224.73 crore.
The work is likely to be carried out by Karnataka Road Development
Corporation (KRDCL).
KRDCL has drawn an action plan to take up the first stage of the road works,
from Konanur to Kushalnagar, covering a stretch of 17.8 km, at a cost of Rs 48
crore. This road is expected to connect the Makutta road, being laid at a cost
of Rs 28 crore, which is a vital road link between Karnataka and Kerala.
