In a bid to decongest traffic and address civic concerns in the city's fast-growing IT hub, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has begun work on reopening a critical 300-mtrs. road stretch from Wipro Circle in Hinjewadi Phase 2 to Marunji Laxmi Chowk. The stretch had been inaccessible for years due to unauthorized encroachments.
On 03 July, 2025, under the supervision of PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase, the agency launched clearing operations in coordination with various departments. “The final 300 meters of the road near Marunji–Wipro Circle is now under construction and is expected to be completed within 15 to 20 days,” said Mhase.
PMRDA had previously issued notices to locations where natural drainage systems were blocked or diverted due to encroachments. As a result, removal efforts are now underway. Once complete, the road will connect to Laxmi Chowk, offering a significant traffic relief for daily commuters, especially professionals working in Hinjewadi’s IT sector.
