In a green initiative aimed at decentralised waste processing, the Manesar Municipal Corporation (MCM) has earmarked 10 acres in Bangrola for a bio-compressed natural gas (bio-CNG) plant after its earlier plan in Nainwal was shelved due to local opposition.
The proposed project, estimated to cost Rs 100 crore, will have a processing capacity of 150 tonne per day (TPD) and is expected to commence within four months following site feasibility and government approval. MCM Commissioner Ayush Sinha stated that the clean fuel generated will be supplied to nearby villages via pipelines, offering an affordable energy alternative while addressing Manesar's low performance in the Swachh Survekshan rankings.
The plant’s operation and maintenance will be outsourced to a private firm for a 25-year period to ensure efficient daily waste disposal. The land for the project belongs to MCM, and a formal MoU with the selected firm will be executed post-approval. Inspired by the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) model, the initiative was showcased at a recent national conference of urban local bodies held in Manesar.
