NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), has emerged as the successful bidder in the e-reverse auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) on 04 August, 2025.
The bid is for the entire offered capacity of 70,000 tonne per annum (MT/Year) of green ammonia,as part of SECI's broader tender for a total of 7.24 lakh MT/Year of Green Ammonia, distributed across 13 locations in India. The specific auction pertained to the supply of 70,000 MT/Year of Green Ammonia to Krishana Phoschem, located in Meghnagar, Madhya Pradesh. NTPC REL secured the contract at a competitive price of Rs 51.80 per kg.
The move marks a significant step for NTPC REL in expanding its renewable energy portfolio, especially in green hydrogen and ammonia sectors, aligning with India's clean energy goals. It also positions NTPC REL as a key player in the emerging green ammonia market, catering to both domestic industrial demand and future export opportunities, while supporting India's transition towards sustainable energy solutions
