National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has prepared a five-pronged plan to cut down traffic on the Sirhaul (Delhi-Gurgaon) border by around 60 per cent and according to the plan, it will construct two elevated U-turns, two underpasses and a foot over bridge in the area.
While the first elevated U-turn will give commuters from Gurgaon direct access to Ambience Island and Cyber Park without having to go to Rajokri to take a U-turn to re-enter the city, the second one will allow motorists coming from Delhi a signal-free ride to either Kapashera or Dwarka border without entering Gurgaon.
The two elevated U-turns will face each other on the Delhi-Gurgaon border.
NHAI also has plans to build a foot over bridge with a ramp and an elevator in between the two U-turns to facilitate pedestrians and public transport users.
The total estimated cost of the project is around Rs 110 crore, but it will solve the traffic problem on the Delhi-Gurgaon border to a great extent.
