Adani Group’s Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has received its Aerodrome License from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), authorising the commencement of operations.
The airport is designed to handle 20 million passengers annually in its first phase and will feature India’s first fully automated cargo terminal with innovative sea-air cargo integration through Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust.
This milestone brings NMIA closer to becoming a key regional and international aviation hub. IndiGo, Air India, and Akasa Air are the airline partners, with IndiGo set to launch commercial flights first, operating over 18 daily departures to more than 15 cities. Air India will follow with 20 daily flights connecting various cities across India.
Covering 1,160 hectares, NMIA showcases a unique lotus-shaped terminal and is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in early October, marking a significant boost to Maharashtra’s aviation infrastructure.
