Union Minister for Civil Aviation, K Ram Mohan Naidu, has announced that the upcoming inauguration of a new integrated terminal building (NITB) at Vijayawada International Airport, is expected to be completed within two to three months.
This new terminal will significantly enhance passenger handling capacity and improve the overall travel experience. Alongside terminal expansion, the Minister highlighted plans to increase air connectivity with new domestic flights to Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Kochi, and Pune, and an upcoming international route to Singapore.
Additionally, a UDAN Yatri Cafe was inaugurated at the airport, making Vijayawada the seventh airport in India to offer affordable snacks and drinking water under the UDAN scheme. Airport officials, including Director M Lakshmikant Reddy, attended the event and shared updates on terminal progress and future projects. Minister Naidu also reflected on India’s aviation growth, noting the increase from 74 to 160 operational airports in the past decade, expanding flight access to smaller towns nationwide.
