A new government engineering college under Vikrama Simhapuri University will be established at Atmakur in Nellore district, commencing operations from the academic year 2025-26.
This will be Andhra Pradesh’s second government engineering college to offer specialised courses in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science, following the institution in Kuppam. While the permanent campus is being constructed on a 15-acre site in Atmakur, expected to be completed within two years, the college will initially function from the VR Institute of Post Graduate Services (VRIPS) in Nellore.
The institution will operate on a self-financing model using internal resources and donor contributions, ensuring there is no financial burden on the government. The college will offer B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, AI–Machine Learning, and AI–Data Science, with an intake of 60 students per course. It has already been included in the 2025–26 web counseling process.
