Kolkata based GPT Infraprojects has bagged an order worth Rs 195 crore from
Ministry of Works and Transport and TransNamib Holdings, a wholly owned Namibia
Government Undertaking, to supply railway concrete sleepers.
However, for this, GPT has to set up a concrete sleeper plant in Namibia in
partnership with TansNamib, the rail road service provider in Namibia. The
proposed plant is likely to come up at Tsumeb, Namibia with commercial
production slated for October 2010.
GPT is likely to hold 50 per cent stake in TransNamib Holdings, equivalent to
Rs 15.5 crore approximately, to implement the project through PPP.
