The Noida Authority has announced plans to inaugurate its long-delayed administrative headquarters in Sector-96 and the Bhangel Elevated Road within the next two months by expediting construction. “We have decided to inaugurate these two projects in the next two months as both are being given final touches. We have directed staff to expedite the work so that they can be opened within the two-month deadline,” Chief Executive officer of the Noida Authority, Lokesh M said.
The 5.5 km six-lane elevated road, constructed above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) Road, would improve connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida. Approved in 2013 and launched in June 2020, the project’s cost rose from Rs 468 crore to Rs 608 crore due to structural changes and delays.
The road will connect Agahpur to the Noida Special Economic Zone in Sector-82, bypassing congested areas like Chhalera, Barola, and Bhangel areas. Once operational, it is expected to substantially cut travel time for commuters. Installation of nine 60-mtrs. steel girders near Barola Crossing is underway, with deck slab laying scheduled for the following month. The elevated corridor has seen multiple missed completion targets, including December 2022, December 2023, and most recently, 31 December, 2024. ,odifications, such as narrowing a 90-mtrs. stretch due to two obstructing buildings, further delayed progress.
Meanwhile, the Noida Authority’s new twin-tower administrative headquarters in Sector-96 is nearing completion. Spread over six acres and originally budgeted at Rs 478 crore, construction began in 2015 but was marred by quality issues and delays. The project is now in its final stages, and the authority is targeting completion and inauguration within the promised window.
