1. Boolean Searches :

i. AND - Shows results where both terms on either side of the 'AND' operator are present. 'AND' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi AND metro result - It will return records in which 'delhi' as well as 'metro' both are present.

ii. OR - Shows results where either term (or both terms) is present. 'OR' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi OR metro result - It will return records in which either 'delhi' or 'metro' or both are present

2. Proximity Searches

A proximity search looks for terms that are within a specific distance from one another. For example, search term - 'delhi metro'~10 result - It will search for records where 'delhi' and 'metro' are found within 10 words of each other

3. Phrase searches

You can search phrases using double quotes. for e.g. 'delhi metro' result - It will return records where 'delhi metro' phrase is found.

Here is a chronicle of orders bagged and contracts received by Indian companies in January-March 2005. Both domestic and overseas contracts, in which at least one of the parties -- awarder or awardee -- is of Indian origin, are considered. A domestic (or overseas) contract is respectively one executed in India (or abroad), regardless of whether the Indian company has bagged or given the order.

A. Domestic Contracts

31 March 2005

  • Alstom of France has bagged the Rs.1,600 crore electro-mechanical package order from National Hydropower Corporation Ltd for the 2,000 MW Subansiri project in Arunachal Pradesh. Click here for more news.

30 March 2005

  • Simplex Concrete Piles India has bagged orders worth Rs.128 crore from Project Management Unit (Kolkata Environmental Improvement Project) for construction of sewerage and drainage for Borough XII and house construction (Lot 2 and 3).

29 March 2005

  • Texmaco's heavy engineering division has secured orders worth Rs.31 crore for sugar mills and boilers, Rs.77 crore worth of orders for hydro-mechanical equipment and another Rs.26 crore of railway wagons. Details of parties who have placed the orders are not available.
  • Parmount Communications has received an order worth Rs.4.4 crore for the supply of low tension power cables from Reliance Energy. The company had earlier bagged a similar order worth Rs.1.32 crore from the same party

  • Nagarjuna Construction has bagged a Rs.450 crore BOT project from National Highways Authority of India (more news.)

  • Simplex Concrete Piles (India) has bagged a (sub) contract worth Rs.72.23 crore from Bharat Heavy Electricals for undertaking the EPC contract (Part A) and the civil construction package (Part B) for the 1x250 MW (Unit 5) of the Santaldish thermal power station of West Bengal Power Development Corporation. 19 March 2005

  • KEC International has bagged an order worth Rs.69 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India. Scope of work includes supply and construction of 400 kv Double Circuit Line from Teesta to Darjeeling. This is part of transmission line being constructed for evacuation of power from Teesta Hydro Electric project to Siliguri (West Bengal) into the Eastern Grid. 16 March 2005

  • Larsen & Toubro has bagged an order worth Rs.186 crore for revamp and reconstruction of SH process platform complex in the Mumbai High (South) field of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation. The project involves complete replacement of existing facilities including instrumentation & control, distributed control system and main online pumps.
  • MSK Projects (India) has received a Rs.85 crore contract from the Madhya Pradesh government for the Dewas Industrial Water Supply Project on BOT basis. The concession period of 30 years with an additional two years for project implementation. 
  • Madhucon Projects has received a turnkey order worth Rs.546.3 crore from the Andhra Pradesh government (irrigation department) for construction of the Kalwarkurti Lift Irrigation Scheme. The work has to be completed within two years. (On 9 March 2005, Patel Engineering had also announced winning of an order pertaining to the Kalwakurti Lift Irrigation project. The development is being confirmed.) 

15 March 2005

  • Nagarjuna Construction Co announced that it has bagged two new orders worth Rs.212 crore from the Andhra Pradesh government. The orders pertain to turnkey execution of two irrigation projects, more details of which are awaited.
  • Madhucon Projects has been awarded construction worth of two irrigation projects worth Rs.395.20 crore from the Andhra Pradesh government. The two projects -- left main canal of Indira Sagar Projects (Rs.196.2 crore) and Sri Ram Sagar Project (Rs.199.0 crore) -- have to be completed within two years.
  • Era Constructions (India) has bagged a Rs.10.2 crore order for construction of a factory building at Hardwar in Uttaranchal from Delhi-based Neel Metal Products Ltd. (ProjectsToday is in the process of getting more details on the project.)

  10 March 2005

  • Thermax announced that its Cogen Division has bagged an order worth Rs.80 crore from an unspecified company for setting up of a 20 MW captive cogeneration facility using internal circulation fluidised bed combustion technology. The project would be completed within 18 months.

  • Patel Engineering announced that it has bagged the EPC contracts for two irrigation projects, both in Mahaboobnagar district of Andhra Pradesh. The two projects are the Bheema Lift Irrigation Scheme (project value, Rs.383 crore) and the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme (Rs.495 crore). It may be recalled that on 7 March 2005, Patel Engineering had placed the order for pumps for the Bheema project on Kirloskar Brothers
  • IJM Corp of Malaysia has bagged a BOT project worth Rs.553 crore from National Highways Authority of India for development of the Mahua-Jaipur section on NH-11 in Rajasthan. (Click here for details.)
  • PSL has bagged an order of Rs.343 crore from Larsen & Toubro for the supply of spiral steel-welded pipes, coating and other related works. The order to be fulfilled by March 2006 is towards the Sujalam Sufalam Scheme of the Gujarat government that aims at providing drinking water facilities in districts of the state.
  • Madhucon Projects has won a Rs.250 crore BOT project from National Highways Authority of India for improving, widening, operating and maintaining the Bharatpur-Mahua section on NH-11in Rajasthan. The existing two-lane stretch of 57 km will be converted into a four-lane divided highway. The concession period, including construction, would be 25 years and the concessionaire is entitled for 40 per cent grant.

  • Kirloskar Brothers has bagged a Rs.162.6 crore order from Patel Engineering for the Bheema Lift Irrigation Scheme in Andhra Pradesh. The order is to supply of pumps and pumping machinery, erection, testing, commissioning and maintenance for a three-year period.

  • Technopromexport of Russia has bagged a Rs.1,900 crore contract for National Thermal Power Corporation's 1,980 MW Barh super thermal power project in Bihar. (Click here for details.)
  • Hindustan Construction Co has secured its first BOT project worth Rs.30.2 crore from Pune Public Works Department for improvement of Pune-Paud Road (SH No.60,  Km 12/200 to 33/000) and Pirangut-Mutha Road (SH No.57 Km 20/000 to 31/000)

  • Era Constructions (India) has bagged a Rs.10.8 crore contract (excluding cement & steel) from Paras Pharmaceuticals for construction of a building for a new formulation facility at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. 
  • Kirloskar Brothers has received a letter of intent for supply of pumps from Koya & Co of Hyderabad. The total value of the order, at Rs.23 crore, is for the Venkatnagram Lift Irrigation Scheme.

  • Bharat Heavy Electricals has bagged a Rs.84 crore order from Regency Power Corporation to set up a 58 MW power plant in Tamil Nadu. Click here for details.

  • Madhucon Projects has bagged a Rs.148 crore order for constructing the Anik-Panjrapole Link Road, which is part of the MUIP, promoted by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. Click here for project details.
  • MSK Projects has won a Rs.7.5 crore order from Gujarat State Road Development Corporation for development of the Himatnagar Bypass project in Gujarat, on BOT basis.

  • IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects Ltd has stated that it has recently bagged orders valued at Rs.311 crore.The new orders pertain to Rs.160.47 crore worth of works relating to construction of buildings and Rs.100.65 crore worth of water transmission works from Government of Gujarat. Besides these, the company has bagged several road projects worth for Rs.50 crore

  • GR Cables Ltd has announced that it has bagged an order for Rs.5 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam for supply of cables, in addition to the Rs.12 crore contract it bagged in early January 2005.

10 February 2005

  • Blue Star has bagged a Rs.8 crore order from National Thermal Power Corporation for its Sipat power plant in Chhattisgarh. Blue Star will air-condition the control rooms as well as office areas of the plant. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, testing, erection and commissioning of the air-conditioning equipment.

  • Tata Projects has bagged a Rs.100 crore order to develop a water desalination plant at Nuclear Power Corporation's upcoming Kudamkalam plant in Tamil Nadu. (Click here for details.)
  • Praj Industries has bagged an order worth Rs.25 crore from Bajaj Hindusthan for setting up a distillery unit attached to the Kinauni sugar mill in Uttar Pradesh. (Click here for details.)

  • Chemithon Engineers P. Ltd (CEPL), an operating company in India of US-based Chemithon Enterprises Inc- a world in environmental equipment, has won an order, worth Rs.9.75 crore, from Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) for air pollution control equipment for its thermal power stations (TPS). CEPL will design, supply, erect and commission four flue gas conditioning (FGC) plants at each of the 210 MW thermal power plants (TPS ) located at Khaparkheda, Chandrapur, Bhusawal, and Parli. Khaparkheda will be the first MSEB location to have a FGC plant in Maharashtra when it becomes operational in 2005. The FGC plants at the order of three locations will be commissioned in end-2005.

  • Tata Motors has secured an order for supplying 1,070 bus chassis worth Rs.55 crore from various state transport corporations in Karnataka. It has also bagged an overseas order for export of 350 buses, valued at around Rs.77 crore, to Senegal.

11 January 2005

  • Ashok Leyland has bagged an order for 644 buses to be inducted by BEST under the Mumbai Urban Transportation Programme (MUTP). The value of the order is around Rs.70 crore. The contract follows a tripartite agreement between BEST, the government of Maharashtra and the World Bank, which is part-financing the project.

  • Bharat Heavy Electricals has won a Rs.241 crore for electro-mechanical works associated with North Eastern Power Corporation's 600 MW Kameng Hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh. For more details click here.

  • Mumbai-based Patel Engineering has bagged a Rs.391.86 crore contract from North Eastern Power Corporation for construction of the 600 MW Kameng Hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh. The scope of the contract includes construction of dams, shaft, tunnel and power house comprising four turbine units generating 150 MW each. (Click here for project profile.)

  • GR Cables has won a Rs.12 crore order from Bharat Sanchar Nigam for the supply of cables. (No further details available.)

B. Overseas Contracts

  • Hindustan Construction Co has bagged a Rs.159.42 crore contract from Royal Saudi Naval Forces of Saudi Arabia for a Pier restoration project.

24 February 2005

  • Larsen & Toubro has bagged a Rs.130 crore supply order for a tubular reactor system from Kuwait Olefins Co KSC. The order would be executed by L&T's heavy engineering division. The equipment, weighing 1,500 tonnes, would be one of the largest such systems in the world when installed, according to information released by L&T. Kuwait Olefins is a joint venture between Dow Co of USA and PIC Kuwait.

  • Intercontinental Consultants & Technocrats Pvt Ltd has bagged a road consultancy order valued at $0.8 million (Rs.34 crore) for the upgradation  of a 264 km road connecting the northern agricultural region and the Port of Sudan.

  • Tecumseh Products India has bagged an order worth Rs.20 crore for supply of its THK compressors from South African firm, Defy Appliances. It is reported that  Tecumseh has become the first Indian compressor manufacturing company to enter the booming South African white goods market.

16 February 2005

  • Kirloskar Brothers has received an order worth $5.54 million (Rs.24 crore) for supplying diesel engines and pumpsets from the Angola government. The order involves supply, erection and commissioning of 300 engines and pumps to be used for irrigation.

  • Sterlite Optical Technologies has won  a Rs.2.5 crore order to provide optic fibre and telecom cables from Dodsal Pte Ltd, the EPCC contractor for ONGC Videsh's Khartoum refinery project in Sudan. (Click here for details.)

  • Larsen & Toubro  has won  a Rs.61 crore order for carrying out civil works associated with the 750 MW Ras Laffan "B" Combined Cycle Power Plant in Qatar, from Siemens Power Generation (Germany), the EPC contractor for the project. (More details)

  • Man Industries (India)  has won  a Rs.542 crore export order from the Middle East for supply of line pipes for high pressure oil and gas applications. The order involves manufacture and supply of around 130 km of longitudinal coated pipes for an unnamed government agency in the Middle East. The pipes would be manufactured at the company's upcoming Anjar plant in Gujarat.

18 January 2005

  • ABB India has bagged a Rs.135 crore export order from a West Asian country (name not available). This includes a turnkey order for four new 220/66/20 KV outdoor air insulated substations to develop power infrastructure and improve power supply. The scope of the project, scheduled for completion in 18 months, includes design, procurement, manufacturing and supply of equipment for all substations.

12 January 2005

  • Southern Ispat has bagged an international order from Dubai-based Indicaa Global for the supply of 4,000 tonnes of CI (cast iron) castings. The Indian company has already enhanced its production capacity to meet the order. (No further details are available.)

3 January 2005

  • Power Grid Corporation of India has bagged a consultancy assignment from Bhutan Power Corporation for construction of a sub-station in that country. Under the order, PGCIL would provide consultancy for construction of a 220/66 kv sub-station at Pasakha Industrial Estate in Chukha, Dzongkhang, Bhutan. The consultancy is valued at Rs.97 lakh. The sub-station would feed power to Phuentsholing and Gomtu and industrial units at Pasakha.
