Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has commenced commercial operations at its 85 MW solar photovoltaic power plant located in Nagda, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, as of 24 April, 2025. The project has been implemented through Powergrid Energy Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, according to an official regulatory filing.
The Nagda plant strengthens the company's renewable energy portfolio and is in alignment with the Centre’s commitment to clean energy transition. It represents Powergrid’s strategic focus on green energy diversification, contributing to the national targets for renewable capacity addition. The project adds to the momentum of India’s broader clean energy goals while also promoting localised energy generation and job creation in Madhya Pradesh.
In a separate but related development, Powergrid also announced the full commissioning of another project, the POWERGRID Raipur Pool Dhamtari Transmission, effective 26 March, 2025. This transmission project was secured via the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, further highlighting Power Grid’s execution capabilities across India’s evolving power infrastructure landscape.
