Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated multiple development projects in Bhagalpur, Bihar, focusing on infrastructure, agriculture, and education on 24 February, 2025. His visit also marked the formation of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations and the launch of the 19th installment of the PM KISAN scheme.
The key infrastructure projects inaugurated included the Warisaliganj-Nawada-Tilaiya rail section at a cost of Rs 526 crore, and Ismailpur-Rafiganj Road Over Bridge. The work on a four-lane bridge over the Ganga at a cost exceeding Rs 1,100 crore was also emphasised. In education, he announced the establishment of a Central University at Vikramshila, drawing parallels with efforts to revive Nalanda University.
For industrial development, Modi highlighted a large power plant in Bhagalpur with Central government-approved coal linkage, expected to generate employment. Further, he unveiled a Rs 5,000 crore highway from Munger to Bhagalpur to Mirza Chauki, the widening of the Bhagalpur-Anshdihwa road, and a new rail line and bridge from Vikramshila to Kataria.
