Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line on August 10, connecting Rashtriya Vidyalaya Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the east.
Spanning 19.15 km with 16 stations, the Rs 5,057-crore corridor is part of Phase 2 and will ease congestion along the Hosur Road corridor, benefiting thousands commuting daily to Electronic City and industrial hubs. It is expected to serve nearly 8,00,000 passengers per day, reducing travel times by up to 60 percent in some sections, including the busy Silk Board junction. Infosys and Biocon have funded the construction of two stations — Konappana Agrahara and Hebbagodi.
At the same event, Modi will lay the foundation stone for Phase 3’s Orange Line, a 44.65-km corridor with 31 stations, at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore. The Orange Line, to be completed by 2029, will link Magadi Road to the Outer Ring Road, home to many global capability centres.
Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said both projects, worth nearly Rs 20,000 crore, will benefit 2.5 million residents, thanking the Prime Minister for his commitment to Bengaluru’s transport infrastructure.
