Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) has adopted a pulverised coal injection (PCI) technology in the blast furnace-3 to cut the costs, at its Visakhapatnam steel plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The introduction of PCI enables the steel manufacturers to cut down the usage of metallurgical coal in hot metal making and help in enhancing BF productivity, reduce CO2 emissions and fuel rate. The company is all set to commission PCI in its blast furnace-3 very soon.
At its Visakhapatnam steel plant, RINL is expanding capacity of the finished steel from 5.2 million tpa to 10 million tpa, at a cost of Rs 19,800 crore.
