The Railway Board has approved the final location survey for a new 45-km railway line between Saradiya and Wansjaliya, aiming to enhance connectivity in the remote regions of Junagadh and Jamnagar districts in Gujarat.
"The new line will serve as a shorter alternative route connecting Somnath, Dwarka, Okha, and Porbandar, while enhancing access to key pilgrimage destinations such as Girnar, Somnath, and Dwarka," Atul Kumar Tripathi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Bhavnagar Division stated. The project is designed to improve passenger and freight services, linking these areas more effectively to the national railway network.
Saradiya village is located in Manavadar taluka of Junagadh district, while Wansjaliya, situated about 34 km from Porbandar in Jamnagar district, currently serves as a halt for both passenger and express trains. The new railway line is anticipated to strengthen regional transport infrastructure, promote tourism, and facilitate trade by offering a more direct and efficient route for travelers and goods movement in western Gujarat.
