Chandigarh-based Sukhm Infrastructures
has signed an agreement with the Punjab government for putting up an integrated
IT park in Mohali.
The company - a consortium of Mukesh
Ambani-led Reliance group, the Dalmias, Bergruen (US), and Yellow Stone (Chandigarh-based
real estate firm) will develop the park. The
project to be implemented in two phases will be spread over an area of 220 acres
of land.
Phase I to spread over 125 acres of
land will entail an investment of Rs.925 crore and Phase II with an investment
of Rs.800 crore will spread over 95 acres of land.
It is learnt that 60 per cent of the
total area has been earmarked for the IT park, 30 per cent will be residential
and 10 per cent is for commercial establishments. The park will have an IT
tower, call centres, software development companies and IT training institutes.
Also, an IT-enabled fashion tower will
come up on about four acres. The company has also approached Austrian, UK and
Canadian High Commission trade consultants to promote the zone.
Work on Phase I and Phase II is likely
to begin by end-December 2006 and February 2007 respectively. The entire project
is scheduled for completion within three years.
