Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for Phases II and III of the Godavari Drinking Water Scheme today, marking a pivotal advance in the Musi River rejuvenation initiative.
The Rs 7,360 crore project will divest 20 TMC of water from the Mallanna Sagar reservoir—2.5 TMC designated for refilling Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar as part of Musi rejuvenation efforts, and 17.5 TMC intended for Hyderabad’s potable water supply, including the replenishment of seven intermediary tanks en route.
Under a hybrid annuity model, the scheme aims to ensure a reliable daily tap water supply to the city’s residents by December 2027, with 40 percent of funding to be borne by the government and the remaining 60 percent by the executing firm.
