Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) is set to establish a footwear park in Ramaipur, Kanpur, adjacent to the planned mega leather cluster. Spanning 130.403 acres, the park will focus on manufacturing footwear and related products, using both leather and alternative materials. The project has attracted interest from multiple business owners following the release of an expression of interest (EoI) and demand documentation.
The leather cluster, covering 102 hectares, has completed land acquisition, with discussions ongoing for a 35-hectare exchange involving Mega Leather Cluster Development UP Limited. The cluster requires an initial investment of Rs 800 crore, with total investments expected to exceed Rs 5,000 crore, supporting around 400 industrial units, including tanneries.
UPSIDA CEO Mayur Maheshwari strategically placed the footwear park near the leather cluster, ensuring seamless integration of manufacturing, tanning, and by-product production. The facility will also support non-leather footwear production. Land allocation is imminent, with rates per square metre to be announced soon.
The park is divided into designated zones: Block A (23.78 acres) and Block B (75.71 acres) for industrial units, 7.76 acres for green space, and additional land reserved for roads, drainage, and infrastructure.
