The 1.8 km long Yanam bridge across the
Gowthami branch of the River Godavari is expected to be completed by September
2002. The bridge estimated to cost Rs.110 crore is being constructed by
Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd on a build, operate and transfer basis.
The bridge extends across the Gowthami
branch of the River Godavari, between Yanam in Pondicherry and Yedurulanka in
the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
It is expected to help develop the coastal
parts of Andhra Pradesh. The bridge will help in improving agri-business and
industrial growth in the surrounding areas. It would also benefit the following
areas in Andhra Pradesh by reducing distances between them:
