Larsen & Toubro Electromech LLC, the
Oman-based outfit of Larsen & Toubro, has bagged a Rs.165 crore order from
Petroleum Development Oman LLC. The contract involves upgrading of transmission
lines and substations in its oilfields in Central Oman as part of a major
infrastructure development programme taken up by PDO.
L&T Electromech will construct 293 km of 132
kv overhead transmission lines interconnecting existing substations of PDO,
besides setting up new transmission lines and substations in the oilfields in
interior Oman. The contract is scheduled for completion by February 2007.

Electromech, the Oman-based arm of Larsen & Toubro was formerly known as
Zubair Kilpatrik LLC. It is a recent acquisition by L&T and represents
L&T's efforts to accelerate business in the Middle East. L&T has a 65
per cent stake in LTEM that operates under four key business units.
