Areva Transmission & Distribution has
bagged an order worth 100 million euros contract from Saudi Electricity Co to
build a new high-voltage, gas-insulated substation and to refurbish 15 remote
substations in Jubail area of Saudi Arabia.
The new substation is scheduled for
completion by March 2009 and will help SEC to increase its transmission capacity
for ensuring steady supply of electricity to the industries operating in the
region.
The scope of work includes supplying
gas-insulated switchgears and autotransformers and is Areva's third major
project in the country in the last two months. The contract is part of a major
industrial development programme in the region, supporting oil and gas,
aluminium and power generation industries among others.
