Larsen & Toubro has secured Rs.114.43
crore order from Steel Authority of India for the turnkey construction of
220/132 kV gas insulated sub-station and associated transmission network for
SAIL's Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh.
The work involves supply, erection and
commissioning of main step down substation (MSDS - V). MECON is the consultant
for the project and the duration of the contract will be 16 months from June
2007.
The scope of work includes
construction of 220 kV (10 bays)/ 132 kV (16 Bays) gas insulated substation,
state-of-the-art four-storied control room, installation of substation
automation system (SAS), HVAC/fire fighting system, 160 MVA power transformers,
AS / DC auxiliary power system, internal and external lighting, including EHV /
HV cabling and associated 220/132kV transmission lines.
When completed this project will
evacuate power from 500 MW captive power plant being set up by NTPC-SAIL Power
Co and feed to Bhilai Steel Plant.
