The Adani Airport Holdings (AAHL), the wholly-owned airports unit of Adani Enterprises, is planning to make an investment of Rs 23,200 crore to expand the capacity of the international airports at Ahmedabad and Mangaluru.
The Ahmedabad International Airport (AIAL), a step-down subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings, has started the process to secure environment clearance (EC) for expanding the capacity of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The capacity will be raised to handle 40.33 million passengers per annum and one million tonnes per annum of cargo with an investment of Rs 18,000 core.
The Mangaluru International Airport (MIAL), also a subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings, will raise the capacity of Mangaluru International Airport to handle 22.5 million passengers per annum and 0.12 million tonnes per annum of cargo at an investment of Rs 5,200 crore.
The expansion will be done in phases and the airport will also be carbon neutral.
The expansion of Ahmedabad airport comprises a new integrated terminal building (NITB) to cater to 40.33 million passengers per annum with a built-up area of about 4,00,000 sq mtr. The cargo complex will be developed over 5.7 ha to handle one million tpa of cargo.
The proposed expansion of Mangaluru airport includes two integrated terminal buildings - the existing developed terminal with future eastern expansion and a new terminal building with associated infrastructure, support facilities and utilities.
The cargo complex will be developed on 48,600 sq mtr to handle cargo up to 0.12 million tpa.
