The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has requested 12 acres of land from the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in Naharpur Kasan, near Manesar, to establish a bus depot and terminal.
This initiative is part of GMDA's plan to add 200 new buses to the city's fleet by the end of 2025 and expand to 900 buses over the next three years. A previous proposal to build the terminal in Bhangrola was dropped due to inadequate road width. The new depot will address high bus demand between Gurugram, IMT Manesar, and adjoining areas, especially during peak hours. GMDA currently operates 200 CNG buses—150 in Gurugram and 50 in Faridabad, through its subsidiary, Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus (GMCBL).
The 12-acre plot, though categorised as “open space,” can have its land use modified for public interest. Additionally, under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme, 200 electric buses are expected to join the fleet, with another 200 to be procured by GMDA next year. Separately, Rs 40 crore has been approved for the acquisition of seven acres in Sector 103 to construct a 100-bus depot, supplementing ongoing work at Sector-48 depot.
