Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) are working together to develop dedicated bus terminuses near Swargate and Civil Court Metro stations in Pune.
The initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion and enhance commuter convenience by integrating metro and bus services more efficiently. Commuters have long voiced concerns over inadequate bus facilities and the lack of basic amenities like shelters and proper waiting areas.
Maha Metro officials confirmed that preliminary construction has begun and coordination with PMPML is underway to finalise a comprehensive plan. “We will ensure that bus terminuses at both locations suit the movement of Metro and bus commuters alike,” said a Maha Metro official.
According to PMC sources, a plot near the irrigation canal at Swargate has been earmarked for the Metro hub. The area will include a PMPML bus terminus, a vehicle parking facility, and commercial spaces, ensuring smoother transit and better infrastructure for daily commuters.
