The under-construction sub-centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) at Shivnai in Dindori taluka is set to receive a new direct access road from the Nashik–Dindori road, located 1.3 km beyond the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS).
The new road will enhance connectivity to the sub-centre, which is being developed on a 63-acre campus near Dhakambe village. Currently, the centre is accessible only through narrow interior roads via Mhasrul village, posing challenges for students, faculty, and staff. "This road is narrow and lacks public commuting facilities required for the students, staff, and all others who will be linked to the sub-centre, which is 15.5 km from Nashik. The new link will not only cut the overall distance by 2 km, but more importantly, it will give direct access to the sub-centre via Nashik–Dindori road, which has good availability of public transportation," said SPPU management council member Sagar Vaidya.
NMRDA commissioner Manikrao Gursal confirmed that a proposal to upgrade the three km road stretch—500 mtrs. of which is still undeveloped, has been sent to the Zilla Parishad. The sub-centre is nearing completion and expected to be inaugurated next month.
