In a major step toward strengthening India’s semiconductor and electronics sector, Madhya Pradesh is set for the launch of a Rs 371 crore electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC) in Bhopal.
The project, which has received in-principle approval from the Government of India, will be jointly funded, with Rs 225 crore contributed by the state government and Rs 146 crore by the Centre. The EMC will serve as a dedicated hub for research, innovation, testing, and product development, equipped with advanced facilities including testing and calibration labs, CAD/CAM design houses, tool rooms, and EMI/EMC centers.
According to Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, the cluster is aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry by offering engineering graduates and young scientists opportunities to work on real-world R&D projects. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasised that the initiative aligns with the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy-2025, which seeks to attract Rs 2,700 crore in investments and generate 14,000 employment. With two EMCs already approved in Bhopal and Jabalpur, the state is positioning itself as a leading electronics hub.
