The Maharashtra government has approved a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the Pune Metro Phase 2 extension projects.
The project, which includes corridors from Vanaz to Chandani Chowk (2A) and Ramwadi to Wagholi (Vitthalwadi) (2B), with an estimated cost of Rs 3,626.24 crore, will be jointly funded by the Centre and the state, and will add 12.75 km of new Metro lines with 13 elevated stations. Maha-Metro will finance the project through transit-oriented development (TOD), additional FSI, and government land development. Any additional expenditure will need clearance from the State Finance Department.
Once the Central government gives final approval, Maha-Metro will move ahead with funding and appointing consultants. Pune Metro Phase 1, operational since September 2024, spans 33.28 km with 31 stations.
