The state government has allocated a special grant of Rs 50 crore for development works within the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits during the 2025–26 financial year.
The funds aim to improve infrastructure and resolve ongoing issues, especially related to flooding during the monsoon season. The allocation focuses on addressing flood-related challenges and will specifically support the construction of stormwater drains in flood-prone areas, such as Pand Naim Nagar in Hanamkonda. City Mayor Gundu Sudharani, along with GWMC officials, has directed that urgent development proposals for other vulnerable areas be prepared.
The initiative reflects the government's commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and mitigating the impact of floods in the historic city. “The funds are primarily aimed at improving infrastructure and providing solutions to flood-related problems in the historic city.”
