Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced that Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has sanctioned Rs 108.02 crore to enhance passenger amenities statewide.
The funds will be used for constructing new depots, upgrading, restoring, and modernising bus stations across 30 locations, including Madgul, Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad, and others. The plan also includes developing shopping complexes at Narsampet and Nekkonda bus stations. The civil engineering department has been instructed to start the projects immediately.
The Minister emphasised the government’s renewed focus on reviving TGSRTC after a decade of neglect through initiatives like the Mahalakshmi scheme, which helped purchase new buses, establish depots, and improve passenger facilities. TGSRTC’s three-pronged strategy focusing on safeguarding the organisation, and passenger safety has been emphasised, marking a significant step toward strengthening Telangana’s public transport infrastructure.
