Siemens has secured a Rs 112 crore order from Vedanta Aluminium to provide
high voltage power distribution systems for the Phase II expansion of their
Jharsuguda smelter plant at Orissa.
The company's scope of work comprises design, engineering, supply,
installation, testing and commissioning of 33 kV and 11 kV electrical
distribution systems. The power augmentation package for Phase II is expected to
increase the capacity of the smelter plant from 0.5 to 1.75 million tpa.
The project has to be executed in 18 months and is slated to be commissioned
by 2010.
