received by Indian companies during June to September 2005. Both domestic
and overseas contracts, in which at least
one of the parties -- awarder or awardee -- is of Indian origin, are considered.
A domestic (or overseas) contract is respectively one executed in India (or
abroad), regardless of whether the Indian company has bagged or given the order. (Key:

- Hindustan
Construction Co won a Rs.173.20 crore contract from Ircon
International for
constructing the Pir Panjal Tunnel from Ch.158+730 to Ch.163+560 (Zone V-B)
on Laole-Qazigund section of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla New Broad Gauge

- Soma Enterprises
has been awarded a contract valued at Rs.411.6 crore by National
Highways Authority of India. The project involves work on a 44-km
stretch (NH-76 RJ-2 package) in the Bekaria-Gogunda section of Rajasthan.
Hyderabad-based B Seenaiah & Co is the co-developer of the project.

- Era Constructions
(India) bagged a Rs.16.35 crore contract (excluding steel and
cement) from Bajaj Hindusthan for civil
construction of the sugar company's upcoming 9,000 tccpd sugar unit at
Barkheda in Uttar Pradesh. The project has to be executed within five

- Subhash Projects
& Marketing (SPML) won a Rs.49.85 crore contract from Delhi
Jal Board for construction of a 90 million litre per day effluent
pumping station at Yamuna Vihar in Delhi. The project will be developed on
design, build, operate basis with a gestation period of 24 months. SPML has
also secured a ten-year operations & maintenance contract for the
project.
- JP Associates
has won a major Rs.1,925 crore contract from Andhra
Pradesh Irrigation Department for construction of two tunnels
(43.5 km and 7.2 km) connecting the Srisailam reservoir to the drought-prone
Nalgonda district in the state. The order has to be completed within 60
months.

- Nagarjuna
Construction Co has secured two new orders aggregating Rs.414
crore. The first order worth Rs.266 crore is for an NHAI
project on NH-28 between Lucknow and Muzaffarpur in Uttar Pradesh. The
second contract, valued at Rs.148 crore, is for a rural electrification
project under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana in Uttar
Pradesh.

- Hindustan
Construction Co has been awarded a contract for construction of
Moghul Road from Bafliaz (Poonch) to Shopian (Pulwama) in Jammu &
Kashmir from the Joint Development Commissioner
(Works), Mughal Sarai Project, Sringar. The contract is valued at

Engineering & Construction Co (IOEC) has bagged a $30 million
contract from Indian Oil Corporation for
construction of an oil terminal in Paradip associated with IOC's greenfield

bagged a Rs.24.35 crore contract for undertaking civil works at the Gold
Souk and Wedding Souk near Jalandhar bypass in Ludhiana, Punjab.
Work is scheduled for completion within 15 months. (Details awaited) In July
2005, Era had bagged a Rs.79 crore order for a broadband
project in Andhra Pradesh.
10 Aug 2005
- KEC International
bagged orders worth Rs.214 crore from Uttar Pradesh
Power Corporation (UPPCL) for supply and construction of power
distribution infrastructure in the state. Orders have been received from
Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam and Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam, the
distribution companies of UPPCL, catering respective to the eastern and
central parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Projects & Marketing for rural electrification on turnkey

- A consortium of
Gammon-Sadbhav-Billimoria was appointed BOT operator by NHAI
for four-laning and upgradation of a 100 km stretch between Vadape and Gonde
in Maharashtra. The order, of unknown value, will be completd by January
2009.
- Punj Lloyd
was awarded a Rs.208 crore contract by National
Highways Authority of India for executing the Rs.273 crore
Nagaon-Dharmatul NH-37 highway project in Assam.

a Rs.22.38 crore contract for supply, erection and commissioning of a 3.3 kv
and 11 kv switchgear package for NTPC's
Sipat Power Project (Stage I) in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh.

- Subhash Projects
& Marketing Ltd in collaboration with Tetrapeck of North
Columbia, has secured a seven-year contract from Government
of Delhi for solid urban waste management for Delhi. A joint
venture called Delhi Waste Management Private Ltd (DWMPL) is formed to
undertake the project.
- Hindustan
Construction Co in joint venture with Continental
Engineering Corporation (CEC) of Taiwan has bagged a Rs.375.98 crore contract from NHAI
for the east-west corridor project - rehabilitation and upgrading of 63 km
stretch of NH-76 to a 4-lane configuration in Rajasthan, under the EW-II
(RJ-7) Package. The stretch is a rigid passage with culverts, minor bridges,
under passes, etc.
- IBM Global Services
has bagged a Rs.56 crore contract from IDBI Ltd
to consolidate the latter’s IT infrastructure, including building and
providing service support for a state-of-the-are data centre and disaster
recovery site at Belapur, Navi Mumbai.
6 Jul 2005
- Madhucon Projects Ltd has
received a Letter of Intent from
NHAI
for the construction of a 4-lane
stretch on the Nagaon-Dharamtul section of NH-37 in Assam on the East West
Corridor under Phase-II of the National Highway Development Programme (NHDP)
at a cost of Rs 273.80 crore. The order will be executed in consortium with Patel
Engineering.

India has been awarded a Rs.580 crore contract by NHAI

has bagged a Rs.79 crore order from Aksh Broadband
Ltd for laying of cables in Andhra Pradesh, as part of the
broadband project being implemented in the state. The order will be executed
over a period of 12 months. Era has projected plant and machinery
requirement of Rs.26 crore for the project.

Electric Power Corporation (EEPCO) for setting up 230 KV power
substations in Ethiopia. Bhel's scope of work involves design, supply,
installation, civil construction and construction of 230 KV substations at
Nefas-Newucha and Gashena. The contract also includes expansion of the
existing Coubite station. The contract, to be executed in 14 months, is part
of a World Bank-aided government-sponsored rural electrification drive.
