contracts received by Indian companies during September-October 2005. Both domestic
and overseas contracts, in which at least
one of the parties -- awarder or awardee -- is of Indian origin, are considered.
A domestic (or overseas) contract is respectively one executed in India (or
abroad), regardless of whether the Indian company has bagged or given the order. (Key:

for four lift irrigation schemes worth Rs.157.3 crore from Karnataka
Neeravari Nigam Ltd. The four orders are: Sri. Ramaeshwara
(Rs.86.4 crore), Ubrani-Amruthapur (Rs.27.8 crore), Singataur-Magala
(Rs.17.4 crore) and Sri Benninall (Rs.25.5 crore)

- Thermax
(cogen division) won a Rs.55 crore contract for setting up an 18 MW
coal-based captive thermal power plant for a leading cement manufacturer.
Thermax, in its official communication, did not disclose the party's name.

that the order pertained to Madras Cements' Jayanthipuram plant in Andhra
Pradesh.]
- Sunil Hi-Tech Engineers
bagged an order worth Rs.11.04 crore for fabrication and erection of
structural steel for a power house mill and bunker for Reliance
Energy's 300 MW Yamunagar power project in Haryana.

in consortium with Infracon bagged a
contract from National Highways Authority of India for
four-laning of Trichy-Madhurai road and widening the 61-km
Trichy-Torarpurchi route at a cost of Rs.205 crore and the 65-km
Torarpurchi-Madhurai route at a cost of Rs.215 crore.

bagged two orders together valued at Rs.33.25 crore. The first order of
Rs.12.15 crore was for execution of civil and structural work for off-sites
for the green fuel emission control for Hindustan
Petroleum Corporation's Mumbai refinery project. The second order
of Rs.21.10 crore is for development of the Kim-Mandvi Road project on BOT
basis, with a concession period of 20 years.

- Gujarat-based Elecon
Engineering won a contract worth Rs.26.42 crore for design,
engineering, manufacture and supply of wagon tippler equipment and conveyor
system for Andhra Pradesh Power Generation
Corporation (APGenco)'s Rayalaseema thermal power project in
Andhra Pradesh. Elecon will complete the project by November 2006 on a
turnkey basis, including associated electrical and civil works.

- KEC International
received a new order worth Rs.82 crore from Power
Grid Corporation of India. The scope of work includes supply and
construction of a 167-km long 400kv double circuit transmission line from
Jalod to Dehgam in Gujarat, to be executed by July 2007.
- PSL
has won an order (value unknown) from Hindustan
Petroleum Corporation for coating the Delhi-Mundra pipeline

has won a Rs.556 crore contract to develop the Pimpalgaon-Dhule

- Welspun Gujarat Stahl
Rohren won a $84 million (Rs.360
crore) order from PT Perusahaan Gas Negara,
Indonesia's state controlled gas regulator, for the supply of coated pipes.
The pipes will be used to connect Labuhan Maringgai in Lampung province on
the Indonesian island of Sumatra with Muara Bekasi area in West Java
province. The 168.6 km long underwater pipeline will have a diameter of
32".

and its German parent Siemens AG have together won a turnkey export order
worth Rs.1,570 crore from Qatar General Electricity
& Water Corporation for the development of a power
transmission network in Qatar. The share Siemens in the order is Rs.1,390
crore. The scope of work covers setting up of new 16 high voltage
substations and laying of 600 km of high voltage cables. The order is to be
executed within 22 months.

that it won two orders together worth $36 million from the Ministry
of Energy & Water, Afghanistan. The order is to construct 220
kv double circuit transmission line from Hairatan to Naibabad (via
Mazar-i-Sharif) over a distance of 16km and from Naibabad to Pul-e-Khumri
that would be 165 km.

single circuit transmission line of over 100 km -- from Salah Bey to Bir
Ghbalou -- in Algeria. GRTE Spa, the power transmission division of Algerian
power utility company, Sonelgaz, placed
the order that has to be completed over the next 15 months.

- IFSL entered
into an MoU with Fahlke Control Systems GmbH (Germany) for jointly executing
a 1000 tpd municipal solid waste-to-energy project in Canada. IFSL's share
in the project is valued at $37 million (Rs.160 crore.)

bagged orders worth Rs.150 crore relating to power transmission projects
from Algeria and Afghanistan. Algerian utility company Sonelgaz
has placed an order worth Rs.125 crore for supply and construction of 400 KV
single circuit transmission line over 120 km from El Affroun to Si Mustapha.
This project would be executed over the next 15 months. The second order is
from the Ministry of Energy & Water, Government
of Afghanistan, has placed an order worth Rs.25 crore, for
reconstruction of 110 KV transmission line from Kabul to Naglu power plant,
located 90 km east of Kabul.
